Mardi Gras Mask Sugar Cookies
Every year, my husband's work always has a "Mardi Gras" party. They always eat King Cake and have fun. Well, he just recently switched jobs and the new workplace isn't celebrating Mardi Gras. So... I thought we would celebrate with some mask cookies.
Enjoy! And thanks for looking!

A Giant Chocolate Kiss (filled with coconut cream)!
So for Valentine's Day, I made Giant Hershey Kisses for my son's teachers. They were filled with a delicious coconut filling. (The same filling I use to make Easter Eggs at Easter time).
Without further delay...here they are!

The toy is simply to help you see how big the chocolate kiss is! |

Valentine's Day 3D chocolate cupcakes
So for Valentine's Day, I let my children pick a couple of different colored chocolates, so that they could make miniature 3d chocolate cupcakes from a chocolate mold.
We had lots of fun - but they look more like 3d Grinch Chocolate Cupcakes. LOL.
Waiting for their chocolates to set up...

Chevron Valentine's Day Sugar Cookies
Looking for some cute cookies to make for Valentine's Day?
Don't make these unless you use SweetSugarbelle's chevron tutorial. Here is her tutorial.
I thought that I could just make these all by myself, free piping style. They turned out ok - but I totally should have used her method. They would look a lot better.
Luckily for me - my kids loved them anyway! And they are already gone...

Heat seal cookie bag tutorial
So I have always wanted a heat sealer for sealing cookie bags - but have you looked at the prices? They are like $150 and up!
So I started looking on the internet and found that some people use hair straighteners to seal their cookie bags. Well, let's face it, although I don't straighten my hair very often, I'm not about to use my hair straightener on cookie bags and then on my hair. So life went on...and then I found a great deal on a hair straightener. And I KNEW that I HAD to have it!
Yep, I got it for $9.00. And it was regularly $34.98. Let the cookie bag sealing begin!
But then I realized that although people talk (well write really) about sealing their cookie bags. I didn't know the details about how long to seal it, etc.
And so without further ado, I bring you a VERY short tutorial on heat sealing your cookie bags!

Add your tag and staple it shut. I will try to post my cookie card-stock template on this page as well. It's a microsoft word document. |

Valentine's Day Cookie Cake with a Rosette Heart (and Tutorial)
The perfect Valentine PlayDate Cookie!
At least it was perfect for our playdate! I tried a new cookie cake recipe (which I really liked). The company was great, the cookie cake was cute, and our children had fun. What more can you ask for?
The recipe? Sure, I'll share it with you! You can find it, right here.
How did I make this? Easy. Keep reading for the tutorial.
Thanks for visiting and Happy Valentine's Day!

My choice of frosting and sprinkles. Wilton tip 1M. |
Cute out a paper heart. Place it on your cookie. |
Carefully trace around the heart with the paring knife. If you look carefully, you can see the knife line, which is how I will know where to put my frosting. |
Now you can pipe the outline of the heart in rosettes. |
Fill in the heart outline with more rosettes. Pipe a border and add sprinkles. Et viola, c'est finis! |
Thanks for visiting and Happy Valentine's Day!

Pie-Cake!
So the other day I was wanting a sweet treat. Nothing around the house sounded good to me. So I started browsing pinterest and came upon a recipe that looked good. (Plus - I had all the ingredients, although I did have to substitute canned caramel apples for the cherries the original recipe called for).
I made it and MAN was it delish! So I had to share! My thought is that you could swap out any canned fruit and it would be fantastic! Think: canned lemons, peaches, strawberries, blueberries. In case you want to check out the original recipe, here's the link! RECIPE
It may not look like much. But seriously, I literally ate half of the pan! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

1 stick of unsalted butter 1 yellow cake mix 1 can of blueberries, strawberries, apples, peaches, lemons, etc. and a 8x8 pan. * I used a 9x13, but I think an 8x8 would have been better. |
1. Put your canned fruit down. (No need to grease your pan either). |
2. Sprinkle your cake mix all over the canned fruit. 3. Slice up your unsalted butter and scatter it all over the top of the cake mix. 4. Bake according to the directions on the box. |
I baked mine at 325 F for 28-32 minutes. I believe that a metal pan bakes at 350 - but check your box! |

Snowball fight...with cookies!
And since I was making that for them, I decided to make a snowball fight cookie tutorial for everyone else.
To get started, you will need a mitten cookie cutter and a round cookie cutter.
Cut our your mitten! |
Cut out the spot for your snowball in the mitten. And then cut our your snowball as well. |
Add your snowball to the mitten. Gently press them together on the baking sheet. |
Outline your mitten. Then flood your mitten. Wait several hours before you outline and fill the snowball. |
And you will have some gorgeous snowball fight cookies! I added white flaky sprinkles too because they looked a little bit like snow. |
