Pastry Easter Eggs
So each year, I make delicious Easter Eggs. I come up with new flavors and then I take old flavors off the list. My flavors this year were: Peanut Butter, Coconut, Cherry-Nut, Oreo, Mint Chocolate Chip, Strawberry, and Buttercream. (And Maple Nut - I have one person who always wants a Maple Nut Easter Egg).
All the pictures are going to look similar - but here they are! One of my favorite things about Easter!

2014 Cake Competition
So I entered this 3d mermaid cake in a cake competition. Unfortunately, she didn't win anything. But I certainly learned a lot about sculpting rice krispy treats and cake! The mermaid was about 2 and a half feet tall. Modeling chocolate was used for the skin. I used isomalt to create the turquoise coral.
I did win 2nd place for my chocolate cake - I entered the chocolate cake tasting competition too.

Ice Cream Cake Tutorial
So my husband always makes me buy ColdStone Ice Cream cakes for his birthday. (Which is a little insulting for a cake
maker). Anyway, I decided I would give making
an ice cream cake a try...
And it wasn't hard at all! I found the Strawberry Ice Cream Cake recipe here!
Here's a picture of all the ingredients you will need!
I did follow most of the recipe, but I made a few changes as well. The only changes that I made were in regards to the actual baked cake itself.
Instead of a white cake mix, I just used a strawberry cake mix. I added the strawberry jello to it and just used the directions on the back of the box (which includes the amount of water, eggs, and oil that the cake box called for). So I only used three eggs instead of 4 (the original recipe calls for 4 eggs).
Here's a picture of the Strawberry Ice Cream melted, ready to be frozen in the cake pans.

The perfect slice!
And my cute little helper!!
