Merry X-Mas Cupcakes

Every year I get together with my best friends for a little Christmas party. This year I decided to make chocolate cupcakes with buttercream icing, decorated with fondant.

Cupcakes spell out Merry X-Mas!

There is also buttercream filling inside of the cupcake! Yummy!!

Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer Giant Cupcake

I decided to enter an online Christmas cupcake contest. My mom gave me the idea for Rudolf. Here's how I made it: the base of the head was a jumbo cupcake. The muzzle was a regular cupcake, carved to fit. The ears were also regular cupcakes, carved to fit. For the nose, I used a big red gumdrop. The antlers are mini candycanes, held together with icing.

Yule Log Cake

The Purple Turtle Pastry shop in Sissonville, WV makes the best
Yule Logs! I absolutely love them!! In fact, I have tried several
times to replicate them...this is definitely my best attempt by far!
Now...if only I could figure out the interior and exterior icing
recipes that they are using, I'd be set!

Santa Hat cupcakes

Here are some little Santa Hat cupcakes. Next time I make them.. I won't make the white of the brim quite as big. =o)

Chocolate dipped treats

Here are a couple of treats dipped in

Thanksgiving Turkey Cupcakes

As you all know.. Thanksgiving is almost here. So I've been making little Thanksgiving turkeys. I decided to try two different kinds to see which ones I would like. Personally, I think the little chocolate turkeys turned out the best.

Little Chocolate Turkeys

Three little turkeys.
You can kind of see that they have
our names on them: Chad, Celeste, and Parker.

Side views of our little turkey.
You can also see Parker's nametag more clearly.

I didn't want anyone to miss out on the turkey's butt!!
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Now you get to decide! Post a comment and let me know
which Thanksgiving turkey you think is the best!!

Cookie cups

I know, I know.. I'm supposed to be a cake decorator. Forgive me.. I also like to make cookies and chocolates!

I got this idea from my friend Ashlea. She made little cookie cups for Sarah's baby shower. They were so cute.. that I decided I had to make them as well. So mine turned out well and they tasted GREAT! Thanks to Lisa and her delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe.

It's exciting to know that I will never make a flat, ugly, chocolate chip cookie again!! (Ok..so I've been making these cookies for a year now...but still it's exciting)!!

P.S. -- These are the mini cookies. They look big in the pictures...but in reality, they are just little delicious cookies that melt in your mouth! If I'm around, ask me to make them. You won't be disappointed!!

P.P.S. -- There are three chocolate chips sitting on top of the icing: a milk chocolate chip, a white chocolate chip, and a butterscotch chocolate chip, along with a few chocolate jimmies.

My friend Lisa had twins a few weeks ago. Little Afton and Claire are so cute! Anyway, I made little doll cakes for their blessing. Here they are...

Halloween Cake

Our friends had a little Halloween party tonight, followed by a Trunk-or-Treat for the kids. I decided to make a cake for the kids. It had all the works -- a witch, a dragon, a ghost, a frog (with a magic wand, book of spells, and a witch's hat). The cake itself had spiders on it and little ghoulish eyes. There was a little graveyard with bats and a tombstone. The tombstone had fresh dirt (dyed brown sugar) and a hand sticking up out of the grave.

Turned out cute!

Take a gander!!

Pumpkins Sitting on a Bale of Hay

I think the picture is pretty explanatory, given the title...but this cake has some pumpkins sitting on a bale of a hay. Linda Clemmer designed this cake. I just made my version of it. As usual it was a fun cake to make!

More to come this week...

Halloween Cakes

So I decided to make a Mummy cake for Halloween...and then I couldn't stop! I decided that Halloween is not complete without Mr. & Mrs. Frankenstein!

I'll be making more Halloween cakes this week. Don't worry -- I'll update you!

Happy Halloween!!

Fondant and Gumpaste Graduation Cake

Yeah!! I finished all of the Wilton Cake Courses! I truly had a wonderful time and learned so much! But it's hard always having to set time aside (when you have a baby). And it doesn't bother me that I won't be dragging all of my cake junk to and fro anymore.

Here is the final product!

Happy Birthday Kelli, Katelynn, & Parker

We had a group birthday party for Kelli Robison, Katelynn Newton and Parker Johnson. Katelynn and Parker were both born on Oct 8th and Kelli was born on October 12th. So here's their birthday cake!

I matched their cake to the plates and napkins as you can see! There was also a cute little candle on top of the cupcake...but I didn't take a picture with it on there. I'll see if I can get it from someone else. =o)

Campground Cake

One of the kids in my ward turned 8.. so I made this cake for his birthday/baptism. I had a lot of fun making it! It was good prepartion for all the cakes I'll be making for Parker's birthday. =o)

I posted a lot of pictures so that you can see the details!

The 4-Season's Cake

I'm currently in the 4th Wilton class, Fondant and Gumpaste. My teacher decided to have us make a cake and to decorate it, in 4th's, in order to practice lots of different techniques. While it was a great idea to help us learn, my personal taste couldn't handle this cake. But anyway, here's each side of the cake!
